Safety is our top priority

Washington, D.C., Vietnam Memorial

On this trip to Washington D.C., here are just a few of the many safety measures that will be in place for all travelers:

  • Field Specialists: WorldStrides staff members will meet students at their home airport as well as upon arriving at your destination.  These field specialists will help with all airport logistics including check-in, getting your bags, and connecting you to the rest of the group.
  • Motor Coach Drivers: While in DC, your group will be assigned to one of the best motor coach drivers in the industry. And, believe us, having a really good motor coach driver can be the difference between an ordinary trip and an extraordinary experience.
  • Course Leaders: They’re like souped-up tour guides who know absolutely everything about everything! These individuals are specially trained in working with student travelers. They’ll be with the students throughout the day for each of the three days. They are all trained in our LEAP philosophy, and will keep students engaged—and excited—about the sites they are visiting.
  • On-Site Coordinators: This will be the hotel expert, and will take care of anything that a traveler needs while at the hotel. They’ve personally checked each room prior to arrival and are there to ensure a nice warm breakfast is available each morning.
  • Night Chaperones: Each hallway where students are staying will have a WorldStrides staff member assigned to it each evening. The chaperones monitor the hallways so no student gets into rooms that they are not supposed to be in—or out of rooms that they are supposed to be in.
  • Tour Central: All students will have access to Tour Central. This office is staffed 24/7 by WorldStrides employees who are specially trained to handle any situation—no matter how big or how small. Every student traveling with your group will have easy access to Tour Central through the phone number listed on the traveler name badge.
  • Doctors on Call: Through our exclusive partnership with the George Washington University Department of Emergency Medicine, students traveling on one of our programs have access to doctors for phone consultations should the need arise.

A focus on education

In 1996, WorldStrides became the first student travel company to be accredited as an actual school. This means that we’re accredited by the same regional and national accrediting bodies as your school—and that we’re held to the same strict academic standards as schools all across the country.

This commitment to education is evident in every facet of our business—course leaders are specially trained in the LEAP philosophy, and make learning moments come to life throughout all our programs. Students are empowered with Discovery Journals prior to their trip.  Most importantly, our commitment to education makes it possible for us to offer our Discovery for Credit program where students can earn free high school credit, and even college credit on some programs.
