We’ve compiled a few resources from the weekend that we thought would be helpful to share.  Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any additional questions.

Educational Resources and Tools (for you)

In addition to offering you and your students an amazing travel experience, we want you to think of WordStrides as your partner in education throughout the life-long learning journey of your students.  As such, we have put together many different resources for you to use in your classroom or share with your students.  Many of those are found on our Lesson Plan section of our Resource page on worldstrides.com.  We encourage you to take a look today and highly recommend downloading one or all of the different lessons plans and resources we have available.  Should you have any questions regarding the many educational resources available to you, please contact the Curriculum and Academics Team at discovery@worldstrides.com.

We have also created a variety of Discovery Journals that you can use pre- and post-tour as well as on tour in most destinations.  Printed versions are available, and we recommend using our new digital version of the Washington D.C. Discovery Journal.

Academic Credit for Student Travelers

Students traveling on a WorldStrides program can earn high school and even college credit for traveling and completing post-travel online coursework.   To answer any questions you or your students have regarding Academic Credit, please click on the following resource guide:  Academic Credit for Students.   You can view examples of these Discovery for Credit courses through the following two documents:

Fundraising and Other Tools to Help Students Pay for the Trip

WorldStrides has many great tools available to help students pay for their trip.  Here are a few of the most successful ones:

  • Financial Assistance:  Families that have an annual adjusted gross income of $85,000 or less can apply for financial assistance.  In one simple call to WorldStrides Customer Service at 800-468-5899, families can know how much assistance may be available for them.  Families can receive anywhere from $50 to $400 off the cost of their trip.  Thousands of families use this great tool to help pay for the cost of their trip.
  • Gift of Education Fundraising:  WorldStrides offers an incredibly easy, student-driven fundraiser called the Gift of Education where students can send letters and e-cards and share links on social media and friends and family members in one simple click can make a direct donation to the students trip.  100% of the money the student raises goes directly to offset their trip price.  We see thousands of students pay for their entire trip each year through these Gift of Education donations.  You can see full details at worldstridesfundraising.com.  We also have a comprehensive Fundraising Guide available that has lots of great tips and tricks for you and your students to use.
  • Payment Plans:  The earlier your start your trip promotion, the easier it is for students to pay for the trip thanks to our payment plans.  After registering for the trip with an initial deposit, the remaining trip balance is spread out into smaller, monthly installments.  There are even payment plans that extend the monthly payments out past your trip date to make monthly invoices even lower.  Families can find out what payment plan works best for them by calling Customer Service at 800-468-5899.

Social Media and Other Tactics to Grow Your Group

Once you promote your trip the first time by using WorldStrides Recipe for Success, there are many great tools available to help get even more families excited for your trip.  We’ve created a web site to house all these great resources:  worldstrides.com/teachertoolkit.  Here you can find new posters and flyers along with email templates and social media ads.  There are even press release templates, fun facts, yard signs and many more great ideas.  Links to two of the most popular resources are found below:
