Stories of Transformation

As a teacher, you know that inspiring your students is not just beneficial – it’s essential. Breaking free from classroom walls is an incomparable way to ignite your students’ passion for learning.

You’ve seen firsthand the power of educational travel, and how the experiences on your program resonate with them for a lifetime. We’re looking for transformative stories, like these, and you can help! Tell us how you’ve seen your students directly impacted during your programs, and the ways these experiences set them on their life path. Please email these stories to Ashley Hiemenz at ashleyhi@worldstrides.org – we’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Not quite sure what we’re looking for? Here’s some examples below:

“Shauna felt so inspired after laying a wreath at the Arlington National Cemetery during her eight grade WorldStrides trip, she decided to honor our military in her own way. By her senior year, Shauna had created a military letter-writing campaign through www.AMillionThanks.org. In 2004, she presented the one millionth letter to President George Bush. Today, she’s collected more than five million letters.”

“Jennifer took her first trip to Washington, D.C., with WorldStrides in sixth grade. The trip inspired her direction in life. Now, Jennifer has served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army, piloted Black Hawk helicopters, and amassed 500 combat hours and two Air Medals. Jennifer says, “That one trip really opened a lot of doors for me, because I could touch it and feel it,” she said. “It was living history around me.”

“During a WorldStrides program in the Florida keys, three California students were so inspired by the Turtle hospital’s work in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured turtles, they took on the challenge of adoption a turtle by doing a fundraiser in their school. The students, who call themselves “The Turtle Girls”, raised enough in one day to take care of their turtle, Montel, for an entire year!”

We can’t wait to hear from you!
