Experiential Learning in Global Business: Doing Business in Taiwan

 Why Taiwan?

Taiwan has a very close relationship to Mainland China. The culture, language, custom etc. in Taiwan resembles those in China in every way. A trip to Asia allows the students to experience the different culture, language, and custom there that will tremendously help them develop a global perspective. They will also have an opportunity to interact with the local students and professors that will lead to a more rewarding experience from the trip.

I have been teaching Strategic Management at Saginaw Valley State University since 2009. In March 2012, I led a group of sixteen business students on a study abroad trip to China. I was the only faculty member on the trip and I made sure that these students had a safe, educationally rewarding, and also fun experience on the trip. The feedback from them after the trip was great and many of them expressed to me that this trip was a life-changing event.
