Meet your WorldStrides representative and participate in a team building experience where you’ll be introduced to life as a scientist and learn about the tools you’ll be using in the field.

Day 2 : Discover Florida's Natural World
Breakfast

J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge

At Sanibel Island’s visitor and education center, learn the importance of national wildlife refuges, discover exciting research, and discuss conservation topics like the Duck Stamp Act.

Wildlife Refuge Tram Tour

Ding Darling is known as one of the best places for birding, so take out your binoculars to get firsthand experience observing bird adaptations! As you travel by tram through the refuge’s complex, you’re sure to see some of nature’s amazing creatures!

Lunch

Snorkel Seagrass Beds

Get up close and personal with seagrass beds during an afternoon snorkel! You’ll learn crucial data-gathering techniques, gain a better understanding of the science behind a wave, and see the effects this natural occurrence has on coastal geography.

Beach Combing

Set your sights on the beautiful Florida beach in search of the perfect shell!

Dinner and Return to Hotel

Day 3 : Continue Exploring the Environment
Breakfast

Paddling Adventure

Paddle among 10,000 islands in search of dolphins, sting rays, and manatees! As you kayak through a mangrove forest, you’ll identify these extraordinary species and learn about their importance to coast lines.

Lunch

Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

Travel inland to discuss the Audubon Society at this famous location known for one of the most important conservation successes of our time: the protection of egrets from the plume trade. Explore the concept of sustainability as it relates to our environment, society, ethics, politics, and more!

Dinner

Meet with a Local

Spend the evening with a local whose efforts are centered on conservation in the region.

Return to Hotel

Day 4 : Alligators and More!
Breakfast

Clyde Butcher’s Gallery

Revered by some as the modern Ansel Adams, Clyde Butcher illuminates Florida’s nature through his captivating photography. This gallery brings to life topics like composition and nature photography as a career, as well as other careers in the field of science.

American Alligator Search

Return to the Everglades to explore this unique ecosystem in search of the American Alligator. With the use of binoculars, observe this animal in its natural habitat.

Lunch

Florida Bay Boat Tour

Get a glimpse of wildlife in the Everglades as you take in the sights of peregrine falcons flitting about, sharks cruising the bay waters, and dolphins chasing their prey!

Local Fruit Stand Stop

(time permitting) Enjoy a stop at an iconic fruit stand to sample some of Florida’s mouthwatering treats.

Dinner

Everglades National Park

Take an evening hike through the only subtropical preserve in North America. Hear the sounds of thousands of birds, insects, and reptiles that make the Everglades their home.

Return to hotel

Day 5 : Encounter the Everglades!
Breakfast and Hotel Check-Out

Everglades Visitor Center

Enjoy one last stop at the Everglades National Park for souvenir shopping at the Ernest Coe Visitor Center.

Depart Miami/Fort Lauderdale, for home

    What's included in the cost of a domestic or high school international program?

    Every program is customized and what's included may vary from trip to trip. A typical program includes transportation (air or motor coach), hotel accommodations, meals, a daily guide (Course Leader or Tour Director), sightseeing activities, and immersive educational content. All programs also include all of our safety provisions and support. The registration letter provided by the teacher leading your program has all the inclusion details for your specific program.

    Can students earn academic credit from their travel programs?

    Yes! We love when students get credit for learning. This helps them get a step ahead, whether its for a college application or for a future career. All middle programs include the opportunity to earn free high school credit. Our Perspectives programs offer high school students the opportunity to earn three free college preparatory credits. Most of our higher education programs include credit from the academic institution of record. Our online courses make it easy to earn credit at a student's own pace. WorldStrides offers coursework that has been carefully designed to combine the field experience with online assignments that demonstrate achievement of learning objectives.     How do I register for my program/trip?

    For most programs, there are a few easy ways to register:

    • Online: Visit our online portal
    • By Phone: Some programs may be eligible for phone registration. Visit our Contact Us page to find the phone number!
    • By Mail: If you received a trip letter distributed by your program leader, complete the registration form and fax the front and back with your credit card information to the number or address provided in your letter.
    Some WorldStrides programs offer incentives for early registration, so please refer to the information provided to you by your program leader for complete details. When registering, you'll need to use the Trip ID assigned to your program.  Each ID is unique and can also be found on the registration information provided to you by the educator leading this program. *Note: Some groups may have special registration procedures. Please check with your program leader if you cannot find a Trip ID associated with your trip.
